Sounds ok so far, but I would go with a civilian slouch over a Federal forage cap. By that time of the war, the 4th had lost those.

Frank, what evidence do you have to support the fact that every man had lost their forage cap? Please back up statements with some sort of research. I'm keen on keeping an eye on the 4th Texas research as we prep for Gaines Mill and Sharpsburg.

A book name, author and page number goes a long way...

I did a 4th Texas impression for years. The 4th did start out with the Frock coats from home and the union forage caps from the captured federal stores in Texas. After two years of war, the frocks and caps were wore out and replaced. I will go back and try to dig up my references for the cause, so please be gentle eh?

    Jared,

It's my understanding that each of the companies in this reconstituted 4th. Texas are going to have their own uniform requirements, as they are looking for some uniformity within the individual companies. You might want to check with the organizers.

What say the other people in your company's facebook page to which you are also a member? Link : https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/142857265837390/ The question belongs there, not here.
