W,W & Company Enlisted Frock

This is probably going to be my next investment. I was wondering if anybody here had one of Mr. Wambaugh's enlisted frocks, or knew someone who did, and could give a little insight as to quality and turnaround time (the latter is not a major consideration, just curious) as opposed to the other approved vendors who also produce this garment. I intend this as no insult to Mr. Wambaugh, obviously, but next to my musket this will be the most substantial outlay of cash I've made toward my impression, and I want to ensure that I get the most/best I can for my money, even if it means possibly spending a bit more with someone else. Thanks for any help offered.

I have yet to purchase one of Dan's Frocks (hope to later this season) but I must tell you I have one of his RD 11 uniforms and the quality is second to none.

Dan is also one of the most helpful and considerate vendors out there today in my opinion. Not only is he a talented seemster but he really knows his stuff and is able to tell you about the gaments he produces.

I would not hestitate placing an order.

Are you talking about a Federal Enlisted Dress Coat? I was not aware that he made those. He has done CS frocks as well as jackets and trousers and has done first rate work for me in the past. Dan is a straight shooter and a hard worker who is deserving of your trust and business.

I actually inquired about that about a month ago and he told me via email he did not do Federal Enlisted frock coats, if that has changed I would like to know. I agree that as a vendor, Dan rates real high with me for the quality of his work and his customer service.

I have one of his enlisted CS Frocks and I second what others have said about his workmanship...it's first rate. My coat took about 9 months from the order to delivery, but it was worth the wait. Mine took longer than usual due to my wanting logwood jean. It took him a while to get it from Ben Tart and delayed the process. All I can say is if you order from him, be patient, expect it to take a little while, and enjoy the results!

Has done all of my uniforms of late. He does stellar work. I am amazed at his attention to detail. I have had him make two rdII jackets, a pair of rd trousers, and J.T. Martin trousers. All have been completed in a very timely fashion.
He also produces c.s. frocks for our company the 4th Texas Co. E. We have put him on our reccommended sutler list. You can't go wrong if you purchase from him. He is also endrosed by several members of the Medich Battalion.

I recently purchased one of Dan's CS Frock and Trowsers packages. I whole heartedly and hands down would recomend his workmanship, it is outstanding. The turnaround time varies on cloth that he has on hand. I went with Ben Tart's vegetable dyed cloth, and it took a bit longer, but well worth the wait. The attention to detail is incredible. I took the frock to work along with my Chris Daley Sack coat to show my customers the difference (always doing my bit to educate the public) between CS and Federal coats, jean cloth versus wool flannel. Everyone had outstanding coments about his craftsmanship, even some of the women who have sewn clothing for years had nothing but praise about his workmanship. You will be very satisfied with his work. Give him a call, he will be glad to talk to you and answer any questions you may have. In my HMO, an outstanding man to do business with, along with Chris Daley. Both of them are very willing to work with you.

Gentlemen,

Thank you all for the kind words, they certainly fill me with a desire to work that much harder to get everyone's orders out.

A point of clarification. While I regrettably took several months to get Warren's frock completed, the responsibility lies with me, and not Ben. Currently I am averaging approximately 4 months of turnaround time, but this has been increasing because of a problem getting the patterns drafted. Nevertheless I am very grateful to my customers who have been understanding in this, and I have recently received word that the frock patterns will again flow in about a month.

Again, thank you for the praise, now back to those buttonholes...
