    Some gourd banjo music...

    The neck is wood...and the body is a gourd and it has a goatskin head.

    My gourd banjo is Jeffrey Menzies #20...but no online photo of it...it looks like #4 at this URL.

    According to Bob Flesher's website, gourd banjos played by soldiers north and south during the civil war.
