Terry -- is that a modern sport coat size 42 chest? When I bought my issue dress coat, I was told to go up a size -- does that apply to this type of jacket, too?

Thats the measurement around the center of your chest, mine is like a 43 so it fits but its a bit snug in the chest. Unlike a dress coat this jacket is not padded and it wears looser than a dress coat. If you wear a 42 sport coat then you should be fine. To take a good look at it go to CJ Daley's website under NY State jackets. It is a fantastic jacket, I am surprised at this price more people are not taking advantage of it.

I'll have my wife measure my chest -- I've lost a little weight but think I am still about a 43. Good gracious, yes, what a deal -- jacket in great shape PLUS belt and NY plate!
We don't get a lot of call for Excelsior jackets out here on the TransMiss border but I've always wanted to honor my ggrandfather's brother, William Wallace Hadley of the 76th NY, by appearing in uniform if/when I can get back to a family reunion in the Empire State.
I'll PM you the tale of the tape -- I'm interested. Heck I could even have worn it at the excellent 2nd Manassas event I attended in August.
