| Backwaters, 1865 - March 12-14, 2010 Land Between the Lakes, Tennessee - Following Sherman’s 1864 Christmas Gift of Savannah, his command began to push North through the Carolinas. To counter this movement, Gen Joseph E. Johnston came out of retirement to take command of the Army of Tennessee. As the AOT maneuvered to mass forces, there were numerous small engagements in the backwaters of North Carolina. This event replicates these engagements in March of 1865. |

LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
Gentlemen,
Happy to anounce that Capt Joe Blunt will be forming a company for the 63 Indiana to participate in the LBL Backwoods 65' event in March of 2010. I shouldnt have to speak on the good, bad, indifferent abilities on Capt Blunt as you all know him as a upstanding being of superb standing. Happy to have him in a leadership role for this weekend. Please inquire to him about attendance with his company. For the west and mid-west men companies B (reinholtz) and C (cooper) are still taking registrations! Get them in boys and lets rid the north state of the vile seccessionist.... YOS, Skip Owens

Kace,
Both of you should sign up and attend. The site is excellent. The folks running the event are top-flight, current or ex-military. They run the event accordingly. Regards,

Re: LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
THanks Fred, Your Chaps are hanging up and ready!
Kace, 61's are acceptable. I am still looking into the OR's for the 63rd IND. Standard 65' federal impression is also recommended. The Event will have the potential to move quite quickly so pack accordingly. Look forward to serving with you, skip

Re: LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
I guess I should have been more specific. The posted guidelines call for 61 Springfields. If you DO NOT have a Springfield what other arms are acceptable.

Re: LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
Skip,
Kace is referring to the guidelines posted on the event website that only specify an 1861 model Springfield for musket. No acceptable options are listed. If that is an unnegotiable requirement, it will knock a lot of folks out of the blue. Quote:

Again, contact me, and we'll see what you have to work with. We'd like to more inclusive than exclusive, and consider a great attitude over minute impression sticking points.

Re: LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
Brian,
thanks for taking this. It was late and i might have misunderstood the question. Yes, he is right. We all know what are acceptable, even to include Enfields. As most have enfields and this was a issued weapon seen in service by federal troops in 65'. Hope this answers the question by Mr. Kace. Respectfully,

SCAR will be providing some guys to Joe's company. We will also have a company on the Confederate side as well. Should be a fun event and I know the site is great.

Re: LBL/ Backwoods. CAPT Joe Blunt's Company
As a participant of the last LBL event in 2006 and someone who hasn't played in almost two years; I can say that I am freaking pumped for this one!
Anyone on the fence about going to this event should not be. The Land Between the Lakes is an awesome area and is completely excluded from anything modern, so much so as you can basically see every star in the sky at night. The view my pards and I had that Friday night in the gully between us and the rebs was something I'll never forget! The whole 2006 event from start to finish was the most fun I have ever had in the hobby. The marching through all the trails (there is hundreds of miles of trails on this site) was awesome. That big damn hill/mountain leading up to the parking lot on Sunday morning was a b**ch but was probably the perfect cap to the weekend! The terrain is challenging so you want to come in decent shape! Perfect place for an immersion/marching event so please everyone get your arse there! DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!
