    Nice photos of a CS jacket in the Ross County Historical a Society. Story is a bit foggy, but still some nice details of the jacket.

    Interesting. I remember during the Meridian Expedition in Feb 1864, Gen. Sherman had asked for volunteers to ride through central Mississippi to find William Sooy Smith and his cavalry column (which unknown to Sherman had already been defeated by Forest and was retreating back to Memphis). A young southern unionist from Arkansas was picked and put in a captured C.S. uniform and it was hoped he could blend in. Unfortunately for him, he was recognized by someone he knew from home, taken to a nearby tree and hung as a spy.
