I have been watching war movies recently, most of them about 20th century wars and have come across a commoness in most of them. The soldier write letters to be sent home in case of thier death. I have seen this done in numerous movies and have heard many vets talk about that letter. Does anyone have any documentation of it happening in the Civil War? I had never heard this question brought up and it perked my interest. Thanks.
