    Re: Charlie Childs shirt question

If you want to attach a 17 inch collar you'll have to adjust the neckline on the pattern. It takes little or no effort to do correctly. You'll need a ruler and compass.

    Charlie Childs shirt question

I'm currently making a "test run" of a Charlie Childs Federal issue shirt http://www.crchilds.com/id19.htm
Right now I'm trying to add a 15 inch collar to the rounded neckline. However, the fit seems tighter than other period shirts that I have worn. I have attempted to attach it by simple sewing it into place with no clipping of the neckline or anything. My question is how best to attach the collar? In addition, how would a larger collar (such as 17 inch) be attached, considering that the rounded neckline only seems to leave enough room for a 15 inch collar? Thank you for any help you can give.
