Palatka is an all around immersive and educational event hosted by the Liberty Guards Mess. You will participate in historical scenarios that have never been replicated before. You will experience soldier life in Florida to the fullest. From Friday night to Sunday afternoon you will be in 1864. Expect period rations and latrines'. Expect picket posts and guard duties. Prepare for unexpected skirmishes at all hours of the day. Those portraying the 115th New York will be inside over 200 yards of trenches charged with guarding redoubt Vandeveer, fully functional with gun plat forms, bomb proofs , forward rifle pits, observation posts, and several reconstructed buildings. This will include Gabions, stakes, and Chevaux-de-fries. Those portraying Dickisons men will be probing these works at all hours of the day and conducting various night raids. Civilians will be under strict military occupation for the duration of the event, and will witness the hardships of staying within Palatka during the war. If you think you've seen it all, step out into the backwoods of Florida for an event you wont forget!
