    McDowell
    Highland County, Va.
    May 6-8, 2005
Sponsored by the Highland Historical Society and the 37th Virginia
    Website: Soon; undergoing revision

    Contacts:
    Event/sutler: Bob Denton rkdenton@adelphia.net
    Confederate: Dave Pridgeon dpridg@aol.com
    Federal: Bill Watson wjwatson@ptdprolog.net
    Civilian: Laurie Watson n2quilts@hotmail.com

Notes: McDowell 2005 will be a major preservation effort to help the
community restore the George Washington Hull House, purchased with preservation money and the future site of a museum interpreting the battle of McDowell (an opening battle in Jackson's 1862 Valley Campaign) and serving as a cultural heritage center for the highlands. The event will emphasize living history/interpretation of the site.

McDowell has been a model partnership between a history-conscious community and the living history community, and is the only Civil War reenactment/living history listed as a Library of Congress Local Legacy Event.
