Re: Garrisoning New Madrid Oct. 3-5 2015

I'm very happy to announce that Jim Butler has informed me that SCAR has voted to make Garrisoning New Madrid one of their events. That will provide our fourth company. Glad to have you all on board boys.

It looks like the SCAR folks will be combining with the WIG folks to make one company. So, if there is anyone that would like to raise another company and field about 20 or so, please let me know. It would be good to have another company since duties throughout the day will be by company. One will be on fatigue, one resting, one guarding and one drilling. Camp life - ain't it grand?

        Fellas -
Just a reminder that I'm raising a company as well. Many of you know me, and know that I'll strive to give you the most authentic experience as possible. Which means I'll make sure you have as many fatigue duties as I can find for you. :) So get those registrations in, folks! It'll be a grand time and you won't want to miss it.

I've posted some general company info and a link with a brief historical over view of Clark County, Arkansas for the WIG company on the company facebook page. Also, get registered guys. We've got a slew of lurkers over there too.

I've got to buy edibles for you all. So time is running out. If you can register in the next two weeks I'll have enough time to get the grub lined out for you.

Well, if those fellows don't register in a timely fashion, just point them to the sutler's tent. I hear he has tinned bread and meat and soup, confections, pickles and pickled eggs and sausages. And remember, bring cash, he don't offer credit.

                    Check In Procedures:

Go to the website to see directions to check-in. http://bdacus01.wix.com/garrisoningnewmadrid

There will be signs directing you to the exact place to be when you get close. I will have a registration tent set up there and will start manning it around 9 am on Friday morning. I'll keep myself or someone there until around 8 pm. If you are arriving later, call the number listed below and someone will meet you there and get you squared away. You will need to sign a waiver when you check-in.

You will be directed where to go to drop off your tent/gear. Do that and return to the check-in area. You will park your car there and will be shuttled back to the event site. It's about a mile away.

Company cooks will be given rations at check-in and they will be shuttled to the event site with them. Civilian rations will be sent with Beverly Simpson who will divide as needed.

If you need to leave at any time due to emergency etc. let me know. I will have a vehicle nearby to get you out and back to your car.

The event will be done by noon on Sunday and military will march back to the parking area. I will ask the police to have someone stop by to watch gear until people start returning to pick up items.

The number to leave for family to call in case of emergency is 573-521-8170 which is my cell and I will have it with me at all times.

Let me know if there are any questions.

                        Mike,

Do we need to bring period tools to help with constructing the emplacement?

                        How about anything else?
