Since Picket Post is over we are staring to push the registration for the Federal Contigent for the Morning Sun event.
Established organization and goals for the event will be to form two 35 man companies under the following cadre leadership:

This Batallion will highlight experienced leadership, campaign-style camping, a military atmosphere, and a semi-immersive experience. Participants are expected to display proper military bearing and should have ample opportunity to participate in the first person throughout the event. Participants should also expect the following traditional EBUFU activities: guard duty, fatigue duty, and drill. Be prepared to skirmish in battle, sleep on arms, advance pickets, and perhaps even another surprise or two, scenario permitting. The company camp will be run in strict military fashion and remain free of any modern talk and intrusions. Rations may be issued at the brigade, battalion, or company level, and is as of yet undetermined.
UNIT HISTORY
The 57th Ohio Infantry was organized at Camp Vance in Findlay, Ohio and mustered in for three years service on December 12, 1861 under the command of Colonel William Mungen.
The regiment was attached to District of Paducah, Kentucky, to March 1862. 3rd Brigade, 5th Division, Army of the Tennessee, to May 1862. 1st Brigade, 5th Division, Army of the Tennessee, to July 1862. 1st Brigade, 5th Division, District of Memphis, Tennessee, to November 1862. 4th Brigade, 5th Division, Right Wing, XIII Corps, Department of the Tennessee, to November 1862. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, District of Memphis, XIII Corps, to December 1862. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, Sherman's Yazoo Expedition, to January 1863. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, XV Corps, Army of the Tennessee, to September 1863. 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, XV Corps, to July 1865. Department of Arkansas to August 1865.
The 57th Ohio Infantry mustered out of service on August 14, 1865 at Little Rock, Arkansas
The regiment lost a total of 319 men during service; 4 officers and 77 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded, 4 officers and 234 enlisted men died of disease.

Tin Plate or Canteen Half, Cup and Utensils required. This is a encampment event. Groups are encouraged to utilize a ‘Mess’ structure to cook over company fires, camp kettles and coffee pots. Further direction may come down from company leadership.
Penknives, watches, jewelry, etc. must be of period style. "Comfort items," such as camp hats, balaclavas, scarves, mittens, gloves permitted. NO MODERN EYEWEAR. Period personal hygiene items permitted. Prescription medications/contact lens care items should be concealed in period containers. Smoking items permitted, except for modern cigarettes.
