  • 87th PVI at Sailor's Creek - April 6-8, 2018

    header.jpg

The Liberty Rifles are hosting this event which will be in the vein of our previous events at Point Lookout, MD, the Winter Quarters in Shipman, VA, and the 21st GA at Brawner's Farm. Attention to detail and a return to fundamental authentic reenacting is our goal. We are assembling a Battalion of 6 Companies, full color guard, with field music, cooks, teamsters and a wagon. We'll be marching, bivuoacking, eating 3 days Yankee rations, drilling, shivvering, and more of the same across Southern Virginia. We aim to do things right, so if you're sick of seeing cell phones at events, or 100 man Brigades, or out-of-season apples the size of your head, come out to Sailor's Creek and help us get reenacting back on track.

Anyone with a quality Federal impression, a good attitude, and of a reasonable weight and age, is welcome to attend. Please contact me if you do not currently have someone in the LR to vouch for you.

Here's the event information and registration page. More detailed research information and logisitical info will follow, but I wanted to get the announcement out ASAP. We are capped at 150 firing rifles, so don't delay!

Attention Union men! Fred Rickard and I went down to Sailors Creek for the walk through this past Sunday and let me tell you, this event is going to be out of this world.

Our battalion will be doing a 5 1/2 mile march Saturday morning to the the Hillsman House, utilizing pristine dirt roads that snake through Southside Virginia.

Your rations for the weekend will be a true 3 day ration issue including bacon, crackers, desiccated vegetables, coffee and salt.

Our Saturday will culminate in a real time demonstration of the Federal assault of Truex's Brigade on April 6, 1865.

Many more details to come, but I wanted to give you a couple of the highlights of the event. We will be busy the entire weekend, from Friday evening to Mid Morning Sunday! Marching, cooking, drilling, fighting, bivouacking, and chasing after Bobby Lee in April 65.

We only have about 35 open spaces left, so if your pards are on the fence, time to get the lead out! Keep the registrations coming boys! Huzzah for Old Pennsylvania!!

Looking forward to next year, reenactors have a choice to make. We are here to present to you the alternate choice from the status quo. We're lashing out at everything we see wrong in the reenacting world...not by complaining or whining, but by doing it our own way, the RIGHT way. We are down to the wire for available space for participants for this event. If you want to experience a couple days in the life of a Civil War soldier, this is the event for you. If not, well...I guess you can always go to 155th Gettysburg Reenacment and do whatever. Choice is yours! But decide fast because we're extremely close to our cap! We're pushing the envelope, and looking for others to join us! If you're already signed up, push your pards that are on the fence! RALLY ROUND THE FLAG! (Flyer by Jason R. Wickersty)

              CORPS BADGES FOR SAILOR'S CREEK!
Need your corps badge for Sailor's? The LR guys will hook you up! If you want one, send $3.00 via PayPal to corpsbadges@gmail.com. If you want to order a bunch for your mess or company and have them mailed to a single address, send $2.50 for each. How easy is that? You click a few times and a nice wool badge will show up in your mailbox before the event. And it won't be some hilarious "Badge Maker" monstrosity either!

I am really looking forward to this event. It has been a long time since I have gone to an event in Virginia. Wilderness 1996 was the last one.

Thank you for all of your efforts!

Well I did go to an event that you might have been at Rich Mountain in West Virginia. :) We Hairy Nation Boys usually stay in the western or trans miss. We got three heading out to this one!
