WHO: The Independent Rifles and Historic Blakeley Park present The Assault on Fort Blakeley.

WHAT: An immersive experience covering events actions before during and after the siege, ending with the final assault and surrender of the garrison of redoubt #4.

WHEN: April 5-7, 2019. Registration will open April 1, 2018.

    WHERE: Historic Blakeley Park
    34745 State Hwy 225
    Spanish Fort, Alabama 36527

WHY: This is a unique opportunity for participants to live in and improve original fortifications, while also veiwing much which has been covered with vegitation for years. The works have been improved before, we aren't disturbing anything. This will be a very active event, giving everyone a rare taste of seige warfare in 1865. Re: Assault on Fort Blakeley

I want to say something here about this event. I attended Fort Blakeley last year and it is one of the best CW sites I have been to in sixteen years of reenacting. It is pristine. The works are the original works. We were in rifle pits that were originally created by the 83rd Ohio. And this isn't even the best part...

Brian DeRochers has put his heart and soul into this site. He is responsible for more prep work than I have seen at any other site by one individual. He is too humble to say this so I will say it for him. I have seen photos of what he has done since last year's event and they are spectacular. Many areas are being returned to their 1865 state and I don't want to ruin any surprises, but both sides will not be disappointed.

As a hobby, we have many quality options this year. In 2019, we have the opportunity to really blow the doors off and move forward. 40 Rounds will be announcing another effort for next year very soon. I am involved in the Missionary Ridge Event next year and we are working hard to give you a great experience for that event as well.

If you really want to take the plunge into better events, take a hard look at Fort Blakeley in April of next year!
