  • M1855 Springfield lock

    OK, Pards,

I just bought an original 1855 Springfield musket for pretty darn cheap. Antique store. As usual, some clown in the past gutted the Maynard primer system and ground off the hinge block. Any ideas where to find another lock or a way to restore the hinge block? All the parts vendors I know of are out of original plates (Lodgewood, S&S). Otherwise, the musket is a tad rough but complete, including the original ramrod. Want to restore it to respectability again.

    Thanks
