  • Tobacco Use and Soft Cover (in lieu of helmet)

So, since we're doing a WWI theme for today, I have a couple of questions....

    1. What could I use in the trenches....meaning, would it be possibel to still smoke a cigar or a pipe and (based on experience) what is the best way to light it. Could I use of those WWI trench lighters?
    2. When did soldiers where those soft (garrison) caps in lieu of helmets (US reference here).
    3. Does anyone have a good source for the WWI German soft caps (worn when the helmet wasn't).

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
