That is clearly a "dead" horse.

I didn't even notice the horse was dead...I guess the protrusion on the left end under the tail should have given it away. I guess that was one day when the chemicals smelled better than the subject.

    Eric,
Great photo! Definitely looks like it was taken in the 1860s.

    Silas,
I thought it was a self portrait, then I read it may be an original.

One more photo, or the end of the day today, whichever comes first. Great photos, folks!

What a great variety of images this month, from nearly every wet plate artist out there. The best selection that I have seen in a while-I am glad that I dont have to be the one to narrow it down to 3.

I'll thrown one in of my Father (Gus Gallagher) and myself. This was taken at the At Hide Tide event by Todd Harrington. It was inspired by an image of NCO's from Minnesota in a similar pose at Nashville in '64.

This image was taken at Fort Fisher by local photographer Harry Taylor. This is my attempt to recreate the look of a Timothy O'Sullivan image taken after the fall of the fort. This image was taken on the recreated Shepherds Battery next to our 32 lb. rifled and banded gun.
