  • 900 yards of FHW material on hand!

    Folks,

Brian and I returned Sunday night with a van load of top quality material from Family Heirloom Weavers. We now have over a dozen different types of cottons, jeans, and satinettes on hand. We have enough black wool/alpaca to line 200 enlisted frocks, enough jean to outfit 50 confederate troops with jackets, trousers and vests! And for all of you women with a lower class impression, we have pink satinette and pink varigated jean!

We have also listed a pile of FHW shirtings for sale by the yard. And because I know I will be asked, YES we will be doing shirt kits with these materials in an upcoming bully buy!

Check our all of our new offerings on our fabric pages by following the link below.

that blue grey on brown looks pretty good. i'll have to go back and look at some Charleston depot jacket threads, seems that material rings a bell for some reason.

I'm not willing to trust the color adjustments on my monitor. What's the visual difference/equivalent between the #1 & #2 gray on brown jean?

              Thanks,

                Lynn,

#1 is made from a slightly finer wool yarn that is pretty much identical in color to #2. The effect of the finer yarn is that more of the tan warp shows through, giving the jean a slightly more tan or brownish cast. Literally from five yards away I have trouble telling them apart, but they are ever so slightly different.

If someone else purchases a whole bunch of our lining and kersey they will be able to produce untold numbers of frocks...

But no, you won't see me making any of them! :)
