Re: No more Ben Tart cloth on hand gents!
Believe me, I completely understand your frustration! I apologize if my post offended you in any way, I certainly wasn't trying to be rude or anything like that. The only reason I posted what I posted was because I didn't want to see this thread turn into an obituary of sorts for Ben Tart. Keep in mind that he is trying to supply at least 4 separate venues with his cloth (one being his store in Gettysburg), so if one vendor is out, that doesn't necessarily mean that he has closed up shop. That is all that was meant by my post, nothing personal. I apologize again if I came off that way.

Re: No more Ben Tart cloth on hand gents!
Dear Mr. Lomas,
If you read my post carefully I NEVER said Ben Tart was out of business. However Kiev's original post makes it clear that it will be quite some time before Ben's cloth is again available. As far as FHW is concerned...well if they make carpet rather than jeans, satinette, or cassimere...well they may as well be out of business as far as I am concerned.
I understand the painstaking labour that goes into making authentic period cloth; the frustration lies at the sometimes seeming unavailability from all quarters for those of us who need something made. That's all...It's just frustrating trying to get the right stuff...for the right price...at the right time.
Yes thank you I regularly keep an eye on Dan's Confederate Cloth section...
With Kind Regards,

Re: No more Ben Tart cloth on hand gents!
What seems to be the problem with cloth!!!??? Now him too? It's all but impossible to get what you want or need for uniforms! Why is that??? County Cloth has very limited stock...FHW seems to be out of business...what next!?
FHW is not out of business either, they just don't produce their CW line of cloth anymore. At least not in the capacity they used to. They still do commission weaving to some extent.
Check with Dan Wambaugh too for material as he has a lot of the old FHW leftovers.

Kiev
Thanks for the follow up phone call to my email about my order. You have been doing a good job in responding to my email inquiries and also thanks for taking the time and calling me about how to adjust my order so that it could be filled.
I look forward to the items we discussed.

No more Ben Tart cloth on hand gents!
Folks,
I hate to do it but, unless the Depot has some I hate to say getting cloth from Ben may be tough for a while . If you have an order with him I am sure he will take care of you however I have no more of his fabrics in stock and have not heard from him in about two months now.
When I can get some I will post back here. I do have a few trousers and one or two jackets left but that is all.Tags: None
