I was wondering if the sizing of Daley's sack coat is pretty true or do they run smaller. Is a size 44 a true size 44? I am a size 41 chest.

In my experience they run a little tight, being cut to period fitting specs which have a bit less beefiness than modern frames.

Thanks Leland. I am a conundrum with purchasing a sack coat. I have a choice between a CJ Daley(sz 44), Wedeward, and a W&W Co. They only differences right now is pricing and sizing (44 vice 42. All are in new condition.

I'm assuming here that Chris's coat is the least expensive but the larger size. If money is an important consideration go with the 44. A slightly too big coat works fine, especially when you're wearing an issue shirt and a vest. Too small doesn't work nearly as well practically but from an impression point of view look at period photos and see how many GQ fits there are compared to baggy/tight.
