Re: English Ball Bag
Very nice indeed! I wonder if those Massachusetts Federals were from one of the Federal regiments issued the captured Confederate equipment off of one of the captured Blockade Runners? I know there was atleast 2 Federal regiments from new England issued captured Confederate English accouterments that came from one of the failed blockade runs.[FONT="Georgia"][SIZE="5"]Eric Davis

Re: English Ball Bag
I was going to say "probably not" - Massachusetts had its own purchasing agent in Europe from the beginning. They bought their Enfields and other items direct from the source - and in the case of the 44th this was how they got them - despite a report to the contrary at the time. I didn't bother to check whether the boys in the photo were 44th or not - it is interesting that they are sporting not only snap caps but also English made slings.Originally posted by 4VADRUMMER View PostVery nice indeed!
