Re: 1st Nebraska officer image
What happened to this guy's right hand? The shortened fingers can't be explained away by the camera angle.
First Nebraska Volunteer Infantry was turned into cavalry 10/11/1863 and saw hard campaigning in the West against Cheyennes. First Lt. William S. Whittin was promoted capt. and A.A.G. 5/25/1863. What was he doing without rank insignia? When do you think this was taken?

Re: 1st Nebraska officer image
Brown and the AoA operated from Little Rock from about mid-September 1863 until the end of the War. My thoughts are that it was made in Brown's studio on Markham Street, but I'll need to compare it with a few other images to see what's similar and what ain't...
