Now you're just teasing is. Who is the publisher, where can we get a copy?

Did it revel if the hole in the spouts is for a filter device?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

Since, I bought the book directly from Mr. O'Donnell...I'm assuming he's the best source (at least in the immediate). For this, I have included the following from the inner flap of the book:

      Publisher: O'Donnell Publication
      7217 Popkins Farm Rd.
      Alexandria, VA 22306

      mike@odonnellpublications.com

Printed and Bound by Walsworth Publishing Company, Marceline MO

      Hope this helps!

I stopped by Mr. O'Donnell's house yesterday and picked up a copy. He told me the main shipment of books will be there Monday. It is a great book and well worth the money. He did tell me to throw away the first two as this book has much more information. Spent an enjoyable 45 minutes talking with him. There is some great information in there. I highly recommend it.:D

              Hi All,

I recieved my copy. and after reading it cover to cover....It is a FANTASTIC book! Very comprehensive, and a good addition to their first canteen book.

This is THE best book I have seen on the subject of canteens to date. I would recomend getting a copy for your reserch bookshelf or librairy

My pals at EJ are selling the book, if you have other shopping to do with them as well I reccomend that you pick up a copy from them.
I cannot say enough about their level of honesty, integrity and 1st rate goods they sell.

I have put "enacting" on a back shelf for awhile but I must say when I cracked this book and read it I grabbed some other books off my shelf and am getting the fever once again for the field. Too bad Im so doggone old and decrepit!

Joe, I say we start re-enacting the Veterans reunions. We can sit around and tell stories of our experiences :D

                      Joe,
Got my copy today, thank you!
This is THE book on Federal CW canteens and the perplexing mess of pre-War militia canteens. It has little to do with the CSA crop, but covers the varied Federal varities in depth, with excellent photograps but even better scholarship and documentation with examples from some of the best collections. The confusing post-CW period is cover as well, up to the WWI era, with material found elsewhere, but herein contained in one spot, and again, done with good text and photographs.
Perhaps too detailed for the average reenactor, but if you are going to do this thing right, it is forty some dollars well spent to have this as reference.

                      old and in the way.

To pile on to what everyone else is saying about this book -- yes, it is a must buy, and the pre-CW and post-CW information is a fine read in itself. Buy it now, or regret it later. After reading about the canteens used during the War in the Northwest in the 1790s, I reached for a familiar volume about that conflict. It's wonderful how these topics migrate.

If you don't own this book you want it once you read it. It has so many interesting and different canteens , we will banging the doors of makers to have them reproduced. I only wish the pictures were in color. Aside from that it is great book.
