  • Four Federals Standing Outside

Here is a photo of four Federal soldiers. I believe I found this on eBay a good while ago. I don't have any additional information regarding this pic. The owner of this original image is not known to me. As such, I am hesitant to put this picture up but I really like this photo however and thought I should put it in a thread so others might enjoy it.

    Re: Four Federals Standing Outside

    Greetings,

Nice pic, Matt--it has a very Western look to it. Too bad you don't know it's provenance. Some fool--oops, "collector"--with more money than sense probably paid a million bucks for it.

        I agree Mark,
I think it has a very "Western" look to it! Thats one reason I like it so much! :)

That's a really great pic. Looks like a pose we'd pull at an event.

I like their hats. Definitely gotta be Western Feds....the only way to go if you are a yankee :-)

I noticed that each is carrying a pistol. Would these be for show (simply for the picture) or could it be that these boys actually carried them. I think that they were just used for show, but I wondered what you guys thought.

Yes, I imagine that they are probably just for show. Fairly common thing to see I think. I have a studio posed ambrotype of my great great great grandfather who is sporting a couple pistols.
In all likelihood these are props provided to them just for this image. Who can really say for sure though?
