  • Corinth 1862 ?

I have always liked this image since I was a child and saw it as a pen rendering in a popular Civil War LP album entitled The Union. I believe this was taken at Corinth MS in 1862. Please let me know if I am in error.
What I like most is the concept of "uniform". 17 Federal soldiers, and hardly any uniformed alike. This is from a six by nine inch original print and shows nice detail. This may have been covered before, but each time an image is shown, someone is seeing it for the first time. Worth another look.

Yes, I think it was published in Miller's Photographic History back in the early 19th century and identified as Corinth. Note the fellow wearing the tam-o-shanter, which made us speculate back in the 1970s that these were members of the 12th Illinois. One of my favorite images also Steve!
