      From the ADAH digital collections site:

      "Henry Stokes Figures with an unidentified young man.

      Figures is seated on the left. He was a private in Company F of the 4th Alabama Infantry (the "Huntsville Guards"), and he later served as an adjutant with a rank of first lieutenant in the 48th Alabama Infantry, C.S.A. He was killed at the Battle of the Wilderness in Virginia.
      1861 circa"
