William White of Company I specifically wrote to his parents on June 21st 1862,

"When we were there [camp], we met Col Owens and our new uniform. He said boys you deserve this dress. You fought nobly and you are an honor to the regiment you belong to. We have got a whole new rig, new shoes, stockings, pants, vest, jacket, cap and leggins with green cord instead of red, just the same as the first suit."

Whites letters are housed at the Arch Diocese in Philadelphia

I reenact with the 69th PVI co. A in California and have taken interest in companies I and K (Baker's zouaves) of the same unit. While I have found uniform descriptions, I have yet to find any hard evidence of what these specific companies were issued (it seems as though the two companies might have even had variation between them). I hope to gain enough info to put together an accurate portrayal of these zouaves. If anyone knows of any accounts of these companies or anyone who has portrayed them, information would be greatly appreciated.
