Is the leather sling for the .58 caliber '61 Springfield rifle musket also correct for the .69 caliber '42 Springfield musket? The sling swivels attached to the '42's trigger guard and middle band are larger than on the '61.
Summer 2002 issue Military Collector and Historian, Journal of the Company of Military Historians shows picture of the pattern of 1839 musket sling. This is the correct sling for the 1842 musket.
