knapsack question

If someone is using the 1953 double bag with wood frame how would one pack it? Would the bag with the frame and close to the back be used for personal gear or the blanket and clothes? Or would it be personal preference?

Hallo!

In brief and to over-generalize...

Ideally, "soft" items such as clothing go against one's back, the blanket can go between or outside, and the hard, sharp, pointy things that poke into one's back otherwise go outermost.

You find, with experience, that no frame at all is more comfortable than with one.

Yea I usually go with no frame and put the soft gear next to me but wanted to have an early impression or garrison one if the need arose and because so few do it.
