  • Wooden Spoons

I am a wondering if anybody has documentation to a certain subject. One of my hobbies is carving and am wondering if a hand carved wooden spoon with no knife or fork would be authentic for a western Union impression. Thanks in advance for answers.

    Re: Wooden Spoons

I was a Boy Scout for years and years and once, when I was about 13-14 I forgot my cutlery on a weekend campout. I carved a set from wood that weekend (Friday Night was a rough fork only, but by Sunday I had a nice fork and spoon). I used those for YEARS after.

I can imagine a situation wherein a soldier would do the same, but that's not documentation.

Now I want to comb photos for wooden spoons.

Obviously there's going to be a survival bias towards metal ones.
