As we are in the midst of celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the War Between the States,
the 3rd Virginia Infantry, 10th Virginia Infantry, 23rd Virginia Infantry and the Princess Anne Greys have reformed the Independent Volunteer Rifles (IVR).
The IVR is a group of living historians who have a long history of correctly portraying the common Confederate infantry soldier, educating the public, participating in historically accurate re-enactments and helping preserve historic sites and land.
We pride ourselves on researching all aspects of the regiment/company that we are portraying at a specific event. We extensively research and strive to recreate these men's daily lives such as: uniforms, equipment, rations, drill, battlefield maneuvers, etc.
Our main goals are to honor our ancestors and the men that fought, educate the public and preservation. The men of the IVR will work together to ensure that the aforementioned goals are met far past the 150th anniversary .
