Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
Hello all,
If you have not made plans to attend ,but are sitting on the fence. Now is the time to jump off the fence and grap the pony and ride . Several of us from Kentucky/Tennessee area are heading that way with two trailer loads .This event is awesome and each side knows their business of riding hard and killing!!!!!!!!!

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
We are three weeks out from the battle of Unison event. This may prove to be the most authentic cavalry event of the year! fought on the original ground, this is primarily an immersion tactical event. Stone walls and gravel roads, and horse farms dominate this area, little has changed. There may be a little interaction with the public to benefit the Unison preservation group but that will be minimal. This event goes live Friday evening till Sunday morning. There will be lots of riding involved. Fed. Infantry and cavalry , CS cavalry and artillery will be part of this recreation. The last event we did in this area, the public torch light tour raised some $800 for the Mosby heritage foundation. There is no torchlight involved this time, just period camping and living out of the saddle.
The website is http://www.mainecav.org/unison. Get your registrations in to be part of this event.

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
Jerry,
So then we should not count on your support for the previously discussed Mounted Artillary event at Chickamagua that weekend?

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
Ken ,
I would be glad to but I am unable edit my posts. I think if some one has a event they want people to know about they can just add a reply here with their contact information to make a list of events .Yes, It would be good to make a cav event folder so communication with in our small numbers can openly communicate .

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
Jerry,
This is excellent!! and well done, sir! Maybe this should be used as a calender template for all authentic events this year. One in which we can add to. Then, as suggested before, we start separate threads for each event so that we keep access information simple and organized.
JERRY: since this is your initial post and you are taking a (very appreciated) lead on this, would you undertake the task to be the "edit master" on this central calender to include other events and information as they come available? To begin with, (for example) Can I make a humble suggestion that you "edit" it to include a bit more detailed contact information for each event? Such as "who" is the contact person (s) and "how" do we contact them (phone number, email) and "where" is the event (town/state)? "We" (all of us) can help you with this. Jerry, could/would you? Let us know.
In the meantime, I will contact our host site moderator about how to make this a fixed position on this cavalry forum.
Thanks to all who are posting!!!! This is a great way for us to organize ourselves and disseminate good information.

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
IF, and I do mean IF, there was a cav only, or cav focused event in north Georgia in say early April, who would be interested?
Very low key, bring your own everything. Nothing provided but a site and water.
April looks like the only time this spring that is doable without direct conflict.
This is a test, This is only a test. Give me some numbers.
Patrick

Re: Cavalry Events Calendar
Thanks for posting this Jerry. This is the type of open info that we all agreed we need to share. Some things on the calendar are open to change/in the development process, but it is a start. We will need to make sure we post more developments as they come along.
Take care,
Tom Craig
