I also have a 1750's account of the French colonial horses in Illinois being referred to as the Andalusia breed and documentation to an Arabian racing in Alton, Il in the 1840's... I happen to like Appaloosas and Paints; they are pretty but were they common? I don't believe so. Would I use one for portraying the common Federal or Confederate trooper? NO! I’d either do infantry or be a camp cook before I rode a blanket App or a Paint that looked like the one in the picture at an event… Z
