  • Question about how leather is sewn

I have a question about the sewing on leather items. When a reference is made about a piece being sewn with, say for instance.... 8 stitches per inch, does that mean that the thread makes 8 complete loops or circuits thru the pieces being sewn together or does it mean that there is 8 holes per inch? I have always assumed it ment 8 complete loops per inch but Im not sure. How is the stitching counted?

Re: Question about how leather is sewn

8 holes per inch. A stitching wheel will help you with the placement of the holes. If you need further help please contact me off the list and I will be glad to answer your questions.
