    I thought this was interesting. I can't see it very well, but it looks like the drivers are wearing sabers?

      The guy above the rear wheel of the first cannon next to the guy in the blurred white horse, could, I mean COULD, he have a carbine sling across his chest? It looks like a wide leather strap. I can't tell if he is attached to a cannon or an out rider.

        The Pic is Capt. Gibsons 3rd US Battery C/G (Consolidated)
        during the Peninsular Campaign, May-August 1862.
        This Unit was Horse Artillery and was mostly attached to the Cav.
        This photograph can also be viewed on the cover of the book;
        "Grape & Canister"

        The man in question is a sgt. of the piece.

          Not only are they wearing the Artillery sabers, nearly all of them have scale attachment pieces on the collars of their MSJ's. I also see running martingales, Grimsley and Mac saddles! Great pic indeed!
