  • Best sources for Mounted Service Jackets

    Gents,
I'm trying to get quality mounted service jackets for our Museum gun detachment to replace the sutler row jackets they have now. I'm also pushing the mix of sack coats and jackets, etc, and have bought quality sack coats, so now turning to Artillery MSJ. I have talked to NJ S***** and Joe Blunt. I also see that Charlie Childs has a pattern available and a kit, but no jackets. Daley doesn't have MSJs on his site (plus he has taken forever on previous orders). So, just looking if anyone else can recommend other quality makers for artillery MSJ. The issue by the way, is as a govt agency, I have to do market research and compare at least 3 vendors with like products and pick the best product/price. Right now, my only third option is the QM Depot, which really isn't what I want for quality.

    Frank,
PM me your email address or contact info. There is someone who I think has a couple jackets already assembled, but they are cavalry. He has been making several of these jackets as of late and with just a change of trim, he might be able to help you. He does not have a AC account, so I can pass your info on to him if you like.

      Frank,
Contact Charlie directly. He often makes up groups of jackets for such needs. I presume if he isn't swamped at the present he would work with you. However, understand he won't be the "least cost" vendor (good work never is) and you need to be patient relative to his time requirements (he is a one man operation). However, if you are willing to be reasonable and work with him you will get the best product on the market. His stuff is amazing.

I think, if you include Rob Bruno's contact, that you have all the "usual suspects" that could help you out with getting MSJ's made.

If you find someone else, let us know!

              Paul,
The main additional source I found was Christopher Wilson, and will also do a St. Louis Arsenal version for us western fellows. The 4th source is a special deal from someone who generally doesn't do this, and I don't want to put him on the spot. I'll leave it up to him to advertise if he wants to.

I was just about to recommend Christopher Wilson.
