    CAVALRYMEN WANTED!
    Individuals, groups or full units!

    CAVALRY CAMP OF INSTRUCTION!!

    May 20-22 2016!!

WHERE: Historic Fort Laramie, Wyoming! One of the largest and best known military posts on the Northern Plains, this “grand old post” witnessed the entire sweeping saga of America’s western expansion and Indian resistance. Home to decades of Cavalry history, and the largest military post west of the Mississippi for decades, we will be conducting a regional cavalry camp of instruction!

Hosted by the 11th Ohio Cavalry

COME AND BE PREPARED TO..... Live like a Federal cavalryman! All activities done in military order by bugle call, mounted and dis-mounted drill, “School of the Soldier/Trooper”, all period rations, ammunition and pay will be issued in period fashion, mounted drills and other routine cavalry camp activities. The entire focus of this event is to refresh our skills specifically on Poinsett’s Cavalry Tactics Manual. Whether you think you know Poinsett’s or not, this COI will challenge new and seasoned veterans alike by revisiting the manual with all its fine details!

WHAT TO EXPECT: Mounted cavalry “Camp of Instruction”. There will be multiple sessions of dismounted and mounted drill, a cavalry specific living history campsite, authentic scenarios including ration, ammunition and pay issue and, several special US cavalry oriented educational programs in period.... saddlery, horsemanship, clothing, weapons, accouterments, food preparation, packing for the light marching order campaign, first person and more. EXPECT a lot of riding, comradery, sharing info among other cavalrymen, learning and fun! Come ready to learn, stay for the comradery, and leave satisfied having improved your skills working within a disciplined and accurate team of like-minded troopers!

SEE: Exclusive “Special Presentations” on Federal uniforms and US accouterments that include original artifacts!!

Fort Laramie Historic Site has limited the total number of troopers for this event! Space is limited!
    PRE-REGISTRATION ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED!!
    NO WALK-ONS WHATSOEVER!

PRESENTED BY CALVARY REENACTORS .... FOR CAVALRY REENACTORS

This sounds like a great program. Sadly, no way I could make it to Wyoming and back right before finals week at my school. If this were organized the next year in late June I would try to make it out!

        Don,

I know how you feel. Unfortunately, that is how most of the guys around here feel about June, July, or August. Our normal internal COI (what we call "Spring Drill") is held the first weekend in June, since that is usually the earliest weekend we can do it without having to sleep in snow. But this year we have two large events in June so we decided to push it into May. Maybe next time! Thanks for the support though.
