  • New Book on the Red River Campaigns of 63-64

Well, this may be the best one yet by Gary Joiner, Poet Laureate of the Red River Campaigns.

The title is Little to Eat and Thin Mud to Drink - see the details here: http://utpress.org/a/searchdetails.p...er,%20Gary%20D.

This one uses two main diaries to document what the soldiers went through - and if it sounds familiar...well, it probably should, as we just marched in their footsteps in an area where time stands still. I just started reading and its a good one.

That does sound like a very good read, covering many different angles... the "melancholy musings of a plantation belle", and Elizabeth Jane Samford Fullilove, "angst-ridden wife of a Confederate soldier" !!!

    Interesting name!
