  • 2007 Camp of Instruction

    Gentlemen,
The Chesapeake Volunteer Guard will be hosting “Girding for War” a Federal Camp of Instruction at Sully Plantation April 13-15, 2007.

Our manual of study will be Casey's, from School of the Soldier to the Battalion, and there will also be instruction on Out Post and Grand Guard Duties, Skirmish Drill, Bayonet Drill and movement by the Bugle.

On Friday night we will have a School of the Campaigner for those looking to polish their skills at portraying an army on campaign, or those looking to do so for the first time.

We will be enrolling the services of some of the best in the hobby to serve as instructors, teaching the men while the officers and NCO’s are schooled separately. The officer’s will concentrate on Evolutions of the Battalion and Line, and the NCO’s will have a full compliment of classes regarding duties, drill and function.

This event is a garrison impression event, with all troops to be quartered in Common (A frame) tents. The primary impression will be 1862 Federal, with the regulations listed below.

We will have a period Sutler/Quartermaster on site, and we are looking to “hire” a small number of period civilians to cook for the officers. If you can help, contact Laura Anders at laurasue16@hotmail.com.

We are inviting companies as well as individuals, but to register as a company you must have 25 men, or we will consolidate for operational purposes.

This is NOT a fashion show, but rather a learning weekend. Registration forms are available with the registration cost of $25, which will include ration issue for the weekend. If you are interested in this program please contact me at ltcolcsa@hotmail.com.

We look forward to another successful COI, and a great 2007.

    Sinc-
    S. Chris Anders
