    Specialty Impressions

Like most events, we are looking for a few specialty impressions that may not be so readily obvious to the casual onlooker. Many of our regular players shot their vacation allotment to attend Winter 1864, so this is open to anyone who can meet the guidelines and attend.

If you are interested, contact me at heath9999@aol.com

    Federal

Bugler (3) - Buglers are prolific online, yet incredibly hard to come by at events, so we may have to make due with a live chicken wired to a TA-312. Just kidding.

Company Clerk (1) - The last day of June was an important paperwork day, and contrary to any form of "army on campaign" logic, Gen. McCall sat his division down and did a heck of a lot of paperwork that day, when they probably ought to have been digging better works. Such is life in "the quiet sector." You will definitely have a function in life, and ability to comprehend ammunition issue, expenditure, and recovery is a plus.

Dismounted Cavalry (2) - You read it here first. Must understand the concept of first person.

Kettle Kicker (1) - If you can boil water, then you can qualify. Must have some knowledge of food service sanitation as this job concerns a fresh ration that went "moo" not too long before it was cooked, not that we are giving away what that ration may be, or how tough it may be to chew. A wee bit of the ration for some other folks may have gone "oink" before it died, too.

Left General Guide (1) - Must know how to swim, be able to identify hydric soil before becoming fully immersed in said goo, and enjoy long walks in a woodlands setting.

Major (1) - Perfect for that drive by impression. You'll be needed for approximately 2 hours, and that is about the size of it. Quick change artists are encouraged to apply. Must know something about inventories, inspections, army paperwork, and that sort of conundrum.

OOG (1) - Grumpy had this pegged, but he has moved up in the organization. If you've never been Officer of the Guard for a whole lot longer than your prescribed shift, then this is an opportunity to be dead tired on your feet. That's the low point. The high point is your guards will have actual property to protect, as well as some civilian items to safeguard.

Surgeon (2) - Looking for a couple of surgeons who like the show and tell aspect of the impression, but also understand not to bring a semi-trailer load of flea market junk. You'll likely be working with Hank and Noah, and interacting not only with the particpants, but interpreting CW medicine to park visitors. Set up isn't until Saturday morning.

Wounded (6) - Like the idea of campaign events, but don't like to walk too far? Perhaps you are a little long in the tooth, or just want to sleep for a couple of days...well, here is your opportunity to be sick, lame, lazy, wounded, or all of the above. Ability to portray men afflicted with gastrointestinal problems associated with drinking tepid swamp water is a big plus.

    Confederate

Company Clerk (1) - Your army paperwork demands will be somewhat less than the clerk in blue, but you'll have plenty to do, and the ability to comprehend ammunition issue, expenditure, and recovery is a plus.

Kettle Kicker (1) - Must be able to cook bacon during the hours of darkness. Demonstrated creativity with ship's bread a definite plus.

Left General Guide (1) - Must know how to swim, be able to identify hydric soil before becoming fully immersed in said goo, and enjoy long walks in a woodlands setting.

Surgeon (1) - This individual needs to superintend some other medical types on Sunday morning, and has the luxury of moving around a good bit at his leisure. You won't need much more than a few items in a carpetbag or grip for this impression.

    Other

Kabuki (10) - Looking for some people who have a lot of patience and can follow directions. Yes, you do need to register to be part of the event.

Official Event Photographers (3) - This seems to be working rather well. If you have done this in the past, and understand how to be discreet, then make mention of it.

Sharpshooters - Those interested in the Berdans impression please contact Bill at Skillmans@aol.com

              Charles,
I believe we could find someone "in house" to do the CS company clerk thing. We're checking on it...Jerry Stiles
