Tell me more about that one. I like to go out and visit Conner Prairie (the museum itself), but the event for 2006 unfortunately looked like a typical mainstream one from the Camp Chase listing: "Activities will include living history, reenactment, demonstrations, citizen activities, a judged tactical and an evening dance. A separate camp area for progressive units will be available. Conner Prairie will provide firewood, straw, water and the Saturday evening meal."
What's the new potential to put it in the running for a top event next year?
These are what you expect to be THE premier events next year.
Darrin,
Without a doubt, the best place online to find information about quality events is the Event Subforum on the ever handyOff Topic Boys Forum. Living where you do in Tennessee, the good news is your travel time to a good number of great events is relatively brief. Seeking out the WIG, MOOCOWS, Hard Case Boys, and other fine folks in your area is also a good plan to find quality efforts.
Personally, and really personally, I am voting for September Storm, the 145th MD Campaign. Those who had a good time at Summer of '62 will also enjoy this event, and as always trying some new twists to add to the experience.
But then again I am somewhat involved with it. Kinda.
In the East in 2007 there'll be the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania NMP living history in May, one near Winchester Va. (opposing forces) in July, and one on part of the Fredericksburg battlefield in the autumn (to be officially announced soon). The "New York Death March" (formerly the Elmira Death March) will be held on a new site in central New York State in September.
Also, look for the four-day-long "Winter 1864" in February 2008, in western New York State.
I'll throw it out here first. Rivers Bridge, February 3-4-Ehrhardt, SC, behind the works with the PLHA & friends. Carpe Eventum at it's best (so shoot me!). Great land, great works, great scenario. Impression Co. C, 47th Georgia
Maybe this has been discussed before, but what are the 6 or 7 events you expect to be THE top events for 2007 - no matter if you will be attending or not, no matter if it's public or not. These are what you expect to be THE premier events next year.
