  • Need 30 Federals for the CRATER anniversary...

...to be held Saturday, 1 AUG and Sunday, 2 AUG, 2009. This is an NPS event/living history to held on battlefield property. Details are still becoming available. Most likely this will be a IX Corps impression. (Which allows for USCTs in the 4th Division)

    John:

I will bite. A few questions:

    Moving or SOYA?

First person "on the line" kind of thing or third person?

Near the Union line or in the open?

What will the uniform standards be and will they be enforced?

    Rations or Cracker Barrel?

Since we both live close by, we know what the weather will be like... Vicksburgian, for sure.

        Hey Ley,

        For yourself and anyone else interested...here are the details I have as of today;

        1) This is a two-day living history event at Petersburg National Battlefield. Federals will camp overnight at the Crater Battlefield proper.

        2) Brand new "stationary" bathroom on site.
        3) Powder/percussion cap issue.
        4) Water buffalo
        5) Most likely 3rd person but oppurtunites for 1st person do exist
        6) Uniform standards will be high for hardcores, doable for everyone else
        7) No rations issued

This'll be a great oppurtunity to be on the battlefield overnight one day after the anniversary. Number one goal is to make it an enjoyable experience for the public and the living history folks.

Please e-mail me at AppomattoxTours@gmail.com for further questions and information.

        Cheers!
