  • Clarifying civilian impressions

Holler asked me to clarify the situation with civilian impressions. The great thing about Boonesfield is that we do actually get to occupy the homes and workshops; but that's also one of the limitations of the event. We can only fit so many people into these historic buildings. Moreover, considering the timing & scenario of the event, men of military age would be off fighting. We are encouraging all men between 16 and ... well, let's say, mature age, to join up with Holler's men.

So as far as civilian men are concerned, we usually have a few specific roles, such as carpenter, Parson, potter, miller, mercantile clerk, sheep farmer, etc. But those are mostly assigned already. And any male civilian roles that haven't been assigned ought to be filled by gentlemen of, shall we say, non-military age. The good news is that the University is in the process of adding more workshops to the village -- specifically, a blacksmith & a gunsmith. So things may open up as we proceed into 2009. However, at the moment, Holler would like all interested gentlemen of fighting age to sign up for Co. I, 21st Missouri.

As we mentioned before, anyone (male or female) who wants to portray a civilian role at any of our events should join the yahoo group .
