Wet plate photographer Douglas Harding will be at Henkel Square in February. His impression will be a great addition to the event.

            Re: Henkel Square, Texas

I happened upon this post and it jogged some very fond memories for me.

I was in Round Top, Texas in 1986 and 1987 attending the International Music Festival-Institute at Festival Hill. Living in a big city, it was heavenly to visit the town of Round Top and to spend a month in that area.

The living history event sounds really cool!

Cool! Festival Hill is really nice.

Round Top is a cute little village; it's very peaceful and relaxing, although it's getting discovered by Houstonians so I'm not sure how much longer the rural atmosphere is going to last. Henkel Square itself is a unique opportunity in Texas to use and live in the structures for the weekend.

                Re: Site visit

On August 29 around 12:00 noon, some of the event participants are meeting up at the event site to have a look around. Some of the participants have never been to the site and wanted a look ahead of time. Anyone is welcome to meet up with us and tour the site.

Structure space is filling up fast. Even though the deadline is not until Feb. 1, if you are interested in staying in a structure at this event, you might want to get your registration in soon.

                          Re: Henkel Square, Texas

Only about 2 more weeks before the deadline to register for structure accommodations. Not much room left, so get your registrations in as soon as possible to ensure you have space.

Young Marse Cody tells me I wouldn't have to climb no mountains or sleep in the rain down Round Top way. Certainly does have an appeal.

No Sir. Feel free to sit and soak in the atmosphere if you wish :). The farthest walk will be to the sinks :) Of course the secession vote will be going on so there will probably be some very heated discussions.
