There is still time to get registered for the event boys!! Our Federal numbers are looking great, but there is still room for more! Our biggest need right is for 5-6 more CS troops. Who would have thought I would be asking for more CS troops!! :sarcastic

Communications for both sides are going out shortly!

Re: Fight for Crampton's Gap Registered list 6/20

A few points of interest for all participants as we get closer to the event.

    First and formost.......
*This event is being held on private property. One of the landowners MAJOR pet peeves is people driving too fast on their driveway coming into the property. Make sure that you are watching your speed as you come down the driveway to the site!! If we want to continue to use this site we must appease the landowners wishes!!!

    * I know I have this posted on the website, but I want to say it again. NO CAMERAS ARE ALLOWED. There will be pictures from the event. I will be asking one person on each side to be discreetly taking pictures during the course of the event. This allows us to have pictures from the event, but at the same time not see people whipping out cameras every two seconds! Nothing ruins a buzz like seeing someone blatantly taking pictures!

*Along the same lines as ruining a buzz,,,,,,,First Person must be maintained by all participants during the event. The command staffs on both sides are very serious about this. If you blatantly and constantly break first person you will be asked to leave the event!!

*It's no secret about the site having creeks and a good size river anymore, extra socks are highly suggested to be brought!

*HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!!!!!! Wisconsin is a state that gets the best of both worlds!! Brutally cold in the winter (sometimes -20 or lower), but also it can be oppressively hot and HUMID in the summer time. Right now it is average about upper 80's, low ninties during the day. Especially for you Federals with those padded chest frock coats!!!! Drink PLENTY of fluids before hand.

*Casualties and prisoners. If you take a hit or are gobbled up by my cavalry ;-) dont worry. You won't be out the entire event. Casualties and prisoners will be taken toward the rear and then be cycled back in.

*Remember that both WW and Company as well as Ezra Barnhouse Sutlery will be set up in the parking lot on Friday for your shopping enjoyment! Beth Crabb will also be running Ezra Barnhouse Dry Goods during the event. Modern money can be exchanged beforehand for period script, with any not spent during the event able to be reinbursed at the end.

Thanks, Mike. No problem. Dan, Terry, Brad, and the Old Northwest Volunteers support everyone's events, everywhere. If they are going to put an event on, they deserve some support.

Looking forward to it. The site looks awesome!

I predict the following post at some point following the AAR: "that event looked saweet! i wish i couldve gone! ill make it next time," etc, etc.

Sign up, no excuses. It'd be the perfect trip for someone to see Illinois/Wisconsin for the first time.

                    Alright Boys

Due to a Cancellation, we have room for a few more in Company A of the 12th Virginia. There are things we are doing that I have never seen at an event in 20 years. We are demanding quality first person and only the best in kit. Andy Ackert is Orderly Sgt. and Brandon Jolly is Cpl. (Hey that is all that Company A had during the Antietam Campaign) We are recreating a full sized confederate company during the Antietam Campaign when the 12th only had around 100 men at the battle. Check out the website and if you want to attend send me a PM or email. And like Jason said It's a great excuse to see Wisconsin/Illinois for the first time.

Jay, glad you see you'll be able to make it up for the event!! You three more will fill out Brad's company very nicely!!

We're getting down to the wire here folks. In ten days we'll all be putting on these damn hot clothes and be sweating our butts off in the wonderful Wisconsin summer!! Make sure you're hydrating yourself NOW! The day of the event or the ride to the site won't do you any good. It needs to be the week of the event that you do your hydrating!!

                      See you all soon!
