Yes Rod, had a blast. If anyone had told me three months ago I'd need an overcoat on Friday night at this event, I'd have bet them a month's pay they were nuts, and I'd be much poorer. In any event, I had a blast, my only regret was not being able to get around to visit some old pards I haven't seen in years, AND see what kind of things the other groups were doing.

Oh gosh, It was a great event!

My thanks to Patrick Landrum for coordinating everything. Those Georgia boys were (as always) great to hook up with. I appreciate EVERYONE's patience with each other, and especially ME, in Drill!

The first event of it's kind for me, in that I came without any of the pards I have been hanging around with for about 14 years in the hobby. Instead, I had the pleasure of traveling with two boys I had not met prior to this event, Mike Phineas, and Mark Vlahos. Both members of the 24th Missouri http://24thmissouri.org/
Great guys to travel with, and I'm going to learn some great things from them.

Hey, I got to finally meet Cal Kinzer after all these years!

The food was great, the metal plate they procured to cook on in our Georgia unit (based on a period Georgian account) made a fine tool in our culinary endeavor. That wasn't "blue beef" we got served! Can't remember the guys name who made the johnny cakes for us, but he did well.

        I enjoyed the event!

Kevin, Joe Knight and Dustin Herr were the under-lackies in the Great Herb Commissary this past weekend. Those two, and Jesse Brookshire definitely helped me out getting the meals prepped for the Georgia company.

I enjoyed the whole event, but I'm glad I had the foresight to throw my great coat in the truck after I checked the weather! Who'd a thunk it... I have to agree about seeing the other groups activities, but I just don't have a suggestion on how to do that. We stayed busy and in character and spread out too far to to walk to the other Federals, which was good in its own way. I did enjoy the Rebs surrendering and our interaction with them. Food was great, and the "Sanitary Commission" packages were great too!!!!

I enjoyed seeing some pards in the Hairy Nation Boys I had not seen in years! Great Company sized event; I really enjoyed being with such hiqh-quality veterans.

Makes me happy that everyone had a good time. The entire Independent Rifles crew that did the leg work and your own company commanders deserve the thanks for that.
