Here is the part of General Order 62 from General Thomas that spells out the Corps badge .

"II. For the purpose of ready recognition of the members of the corps and divisions of this army, and to prevent injustice by reports of straggling and misconduct through mistakes as to organizations, the following-described badges will be worn by the officers and enlisted men of all the regiments of the corps mentioned. They will be made either of cloth or metal, after the patterns deposited in the office of the assistant adjutant-general, at department headquarters, and will be securely fastened upon the center of the top of the cap, or upon the left-hand side of the hat when that is worn:
For the Fourth Corps: An equilateral triangle, ... blue for Third Division."

I ordered the book "The Battle of Pickett's Mill: Along the Dead Line." tonight. Time to get serious for this one as it's right around the corner. I'm ready for the season at start.

I have it and it is very good. A detailed study of this obscure battle.

Registered and ready to once again join the boys in blue from Michigan! I'll have spent Shiloh, Gettysburg and, soon, Pickett's Mill with the Sally Port Mess/ONV and I look forward to it once again.

I am hopeful to find a job for next fall by the month's end. Until then, I can't give my full commitment.

Tick tock. Only 3 weeks to go till registration closes. Don't miss out on participating in a 150th event on the actual ground in one of the most pristine preserved battlefields we have.
