  • Fort Tyler West Point Georgia Living History

    Fellas,

I'm posting this here, even though it's not an EFUBU event per se. Please relocate if needed. This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the Battle that happened at West Point Georgia on April 16, 1865. In years past they had a really good living history and candle light tour there. For the past few years they've started having it again. I'm currently in Australia, but will be making my way "back home" in a few weeks. Since this will be the 150th anniversary and one of my first events back home, I'd like to help make it a good event. The organizers have given me permission to put this out there and invite anyone I see fit to. I'd love to get some quality impressions there to make this one of the best ever. I'm not an event "organizer" by any means and am only trying this word of mouth so to speak right now.

If you're not familiar with the story, google it. Very interesting, especially as far as Gen Robert C. Tyler in involved. The battle happened the weekend Lincoln died. They do have a website, though it's a bit old and the "reenactor" pics are from the 90's. There is a reproduction earthworks "Fort" with 3 artillery pieces(so artillery guys are needed). There is the potential to do something special there on the weekend of April 18 2015. Was hoping to bring in some guys from the Georgia/Alabama area, but any and all members here are welcome. I know units have lots going on in April, but just thought I'd put it out there.

Since the local force consisted of some regular soldiers, home guard, young boys, and old men, this gives for a wide range of impressions.Civilian ladies also played a large part. Convalescents from a local soldiers hospital were also there.

I'll will act as a point of contact until something else is arranged. Impressions would need to be of the standard expected for events posted on this forum. Late War if possible, of course,

Please forgive my lack of eloquence here, and any breach of protocol. I do this only out of my love of this event and it's story. And I do remain,

    Your Obedient Servant,

    D.W.(Trace) Scalf
