    Re: 123rd Illinois Infantry battalion

Folks, we still need to increase our numbers. All of you old GHTI types need to check in with Wick and get your registration in.
Todd Morris is looking for former Mudsills to fill his ranks as well.
Let's show these fellows some support.
We would like to have another company as well. Anyone wanting to step up and recruit one please let me know. We have plenty brewing to make sure everyone has a great time!

Let's not miss out on the next big adventure folks. Get your registration sent in for the 123rd Illinois ASAP.
FWIW, the 123rd Illinois made a bayonet charge on Maneys Brigade. Although they were routed, they paved the way for the 105th Ohio to get into the fight.

        Company A needs YOU!

Let's get those registrations in! Perryville is a very special place and this effort will be WORTH IT! Marching, sleeping, eating and maneuvering on the original ground are rare opportunities in the hobby.

Think of this as the Prelude to Wauhatchie!

The Hairy Nation Boys (Company E) are still looking for good men to join us. The HNB has been an authentic group going back to 1990. Shoot me a message if you want to join our company this fall!

                        Re: 123rd Illinois Infantry battalion

Greetings Company E! I hope this letter finds you all in good health. Before we head to Kentucky we have a few things to go over.

Here is the leadership for our company:
Captain Lemuel Ellington (Hairy Nation Boys)
1st Lt Eric Fair (Hairy Nation Boys)
Orderly Sgt Harrison Holloway (Hairy Nation Boys)
2nd Sgt Archibald Campbell (Hairy Nation Boys)
Cpl Sam Cruikshank (Hairy Nation Boys)
                        Cpl Fred Baker (Ground Hornets)
                        Cpl Shawn Spicer (36th Ill)
                        Cpl Eric Isaacs (36th Ill)
Be sure to follow the chain of command if you need anything.

                        2. Bring a clean and functioning weapon and bayonet. Weapons will be inspected on the company level as they enter camp. We don't want any surprises (or stink eyes from the inspecting officers) during battalion inspection. Uniforms should be in good repair. This isn't a bummers impression.

                        3. Drill - we are portraying a green unit. The boys should be mindful that they should obey company and battalion orders - no matter what the given command is. We don't need a bunch of manual-thumpers explaining the proper way to do things. Not knowing what to do is historically correct for this impression. Arguing the right way something should be done is not acceptable and will be considered FARB. Historically there was confusion and ignorance with the officers at Perryville. Understand that like the enlisted men, they were green also. This may be built into the scenarios.

                        4. Do not leave camp for any reason whatsoever without first obtaining permission from a company NCO. Cpls need to report absences to the Sgt, and so on. This means no leaving to take a shit, visiting with other companies, or stepping off to get your image struck without first getting the OK to leave the immediate camp. The NCO's and Officers must be accountable for all of the men at all times.

                        5. Phones: We do NOT allow cell phones in our company. Please leave them in your car. I don’t want to embarrass you in front of the other men by telling you to go to your wagon to put it away.
Captain Ellington will have his phone. 314-960-3264

                        6. First Person: We have always prided ourselves in our ability to talk in first person. If you want to talk about modern things, where you got your gear or anything else please step away from the fire and talk in hushed tones. Be considerate to those men who want a true experience. The NCO’s are instructed to redirect the men if they fall into the trap of modern conversations.

First Person Names: If you go by a first person name send it to me ASAP!

                        7. Health: If you have any health concerns please let me know. Also, when at the event if you are not feeling well please let me or one of the other NCO’s know right away. Don’t wait until you are hurting.

                        8. Rounds: Please bring between 100-120 rounds. We will not be turning the rounds in so you will have to carry them on your knapsacks.

                        9. Shelter Tents should not be used. The 123rd did not have them at the time of the battle.

                        10. Last but not least please plan on staying for the whole event. Last year at Bentonville a whole company disappeared on Sunday. We don’t want that to happen to us.
