  • "A Hell of a Noise": Polignac's Charge at Mansfield (May 19-21, 2017)

Mansfield State Historic Site is hosting a Living History Battle on May 20, 2017. This will be in conjunction with a larger living history program ongoing May 19-21, 2017. The campaigner adjuncts to this event will depict the 22nd Texas Dismounted Cavalry and the 67th Indiana Infantry. The unit contacts for these two impressions are listed below.

This event looks to present at focused view of a segment of the April 8, 1864 Battle of Mansfield that took place on the site of the modern day Mansfield Battlefield Park. Thus this will be a large scale living history program with a historically founded and scripted battle scenario. For more information on the event make sure to join the Event's Facebook Group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/324145527932579/ or contact the park (info listed below)

Gents, Mansfield State Historic Site needs your assistance. We need your help to put on a great living history event depicting the action which occurred on the portion of the Mansfield Battlefield which is protected by the park. So come on out the Trans-Mississippi and help us bring attention to this endangered battlefield! Here is the event page and the unit contacts are listed above and two more listed below. https://www.facebook.com/groups/324145527932579/

Folks, I don't like playing the "closure" card but due to the Louisiana State budget issues there is talk of closing 5-6 more parks. Of which the Mansfield Battlefield could be one of them. We need your support, we have already dropped the 77th Illinois impression due to lack of numbers. Help us put on a quality living history to demonstrate the cultural and tourism impact this battlefield has for the State of Louisiana. Get those registrations in! The park and the unit organizers have put in a lot of work and need your help! Here are the contacts again:

I agree, but we are trying to bring our limited numbers together to make sizable companies. Thank you for your support!

Well, bottom line is this isn't feasible for me at all, this is graduation season for several, and that is son Aaron's graduation weekend.
